David Heller has been involved in Asia-related investment and business since 1989 and has since accrued extensive experience in deal-making, fundraising and business development in Asia.
He studied and worked in Japan for five years, during which time he practiced law at the firm Wakabayashi & Watanabe, Tokyo, Japan. At the firm, he was engaged in transactions between Japanese and other Asian corporations from China, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
After his return to Israel from Japan, David co-founded, raised capital for, and managed The Israel International Fund (IIF), which was the first Israeli fund tailored for Japanese corporate investors.
David leads Vertex’s Asian activities including business development for portfolio companies in Asia and raising capital from Asian investors for Vertex funds. In addition, David is in charge of executing investments in and divestments from Vertex portfolio companies.
In Israel, David was a Partner in the law firm Yossi Avraham & Co. where he specialized in M&A transactions and was also responsible for Asia-related deals. David is Chairman of the Japan Committee and Korea Committee of the High Tech Industry Association (HTIA) in Israel, a member of the China Committee of the HTIA and a member of the Board of Directors of the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce. He has been a member of The Israel Bar since 1985. David earned an LL.B from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and an LL.M from Kyoto University, Japan.
